Keep Your Day Job!

Gavin Mendonca – Vocals/Rhythm Guitar
Ryan Roberts – Lead Guitar

Keep Your Day Job! Is a punk rock duo, consisting of Gavin Mendonca (Guitar, Lead Vocals) and Ryan Roberts (Guitar)

Of course you’d wonder .. ‘no drums’? Since our existence, we have never had a drummer, until we bought an electronic drum pad simulator, which Clifton hammered away on for our last show. KYDJ! has a third member, Clifton Garraway (Bass, Vocals, make shift drums), but he migrated to Canada in early 2011.

KYDJ! was formed in February, 2009, after Ryan and Clifton met Gavin at the local University. Ryan and Clifton had already been long time friends, and had already started playing music together. After bribing (with the thought of getting girls like crazy) Gavin to join, the trio immediately began composing original music together, and pushed to perform for the first time at a movie night at a high school (which Clifton attended for a short time .. I think).
Since forming, KYDJ! Composed some songs that are dubbed as their ‘signature’ songs, being Ocean Air, Hope, Leaving Home and Sorrow.

KYDJ! Is mainly influenced by popular bands such as Blink 182, Green Day, Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys and The Ramones.
Since forming, the band has performed at many locations, such as Marian Academy High School, during their lunch hour, The Dutch Bottle Café, Sidewalk Café, University of Guyana, and even at a friend’s wedding (which was actually a disaster!). The band’s last performance to include Clifton was just about two weeks before Clifton departed, at Marian Academy (both Ryan and Clifton attended this school as teenager)
KYDJ! Lives for one thing – Music. We try to incorporate as much humour in our songs, since laughter is the best medicine.

Our band, Keep Your Day Job! , represents the will of an individual, to never give up on your dreams, regardless of the present situation. We intend to pushing the rock scene in Guyana as much as possible. Music is a very important attribute to life, everything on earth resonates to a certain frequency, and we hope that we can produce the vibrations, the energy, through our music, and enlighten the minds of the youth, to be free, to be independent, and to follow your dreams!
